There’s nothing scarier than being human, and these films delve deeply into the inhuman ways our bodies can betray us. From the chilling to the risqué, here are five horror films you might have missed. Ray Liotta was cast in the film in February 2022, but died in May of that year before he could film his scenes. Dennis Quaid replaced him, but Liotta is still mentioned in the director’s “Notes of Thanks” during the credits. Let me start by saying: I love body horror and if you don’t or are squeamish, you should probably skip this film. That said, I thought the balance between disturbing, impactful, intriguing and gross was absolutely perfect.In a world where fillers, Botox, facelifts and implants, skincare routines and an obsession with youth are at a peak in the media, THE SUBSTANCE questions whether the “new, better ‘you'” is really ‘you’ – you are one, but maybe not the same. It’s smart, it’s gross, it’s direct and it’s fun to watch. Moore and Qualley were an excellent duo and Quaid played a Hollywood creep in the most believable way possible.
